Description
For an individual project at Media Design School, I rebranded and repositioned New Zealand Lager, an existing, inexpensive local beer, as a high-end, luxury product.
Firstly I redesigned the brewer’s logo, before turning my attention to the packaging itself, a set of brand guidelines, and a billboard.
Given the product’s connection to, and history in New Zealand, the look and feel needed to evoke tradition and the natural, homegrown ingredients used. I therefore carefully considered elements such as the paper stock, glass bottle, enclosure and the style of handwriting.
A large part of the rebrand rested on the type and shape of glass bottle, which I eventually found in a local antique shop. Combined with a cork and unique ficelage enclosure, I was able to give the product just the right character.
